Syria holds a special place in our hearts but unfortunately due to current circumstances we do not advise travel there at this time. We do however offer great holiday alternatives to Syria. For more info see our pages on Middle Eastern adventures in Oman, Jordan and Morocco.
Syria dates back to the dawn of civilisation and has a wealth of astonishing archaeological and cultural riches as well as spectacular desert and mountain scenery. It is a country of astonishing variety where the Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans and others have left a remarkable legacy – from biblical sites and Roman cities to Byzantine churches, Ummayad palaces and Crusader castles. The legendary cities of Damascus and Aleppo, and the impressive ruins of equally ancient but long abandoned cities, such as the world-famous Palmyra, are testament to Syria’s importance in ancient times. Our Syria tours are designed to take in the best sites in Syria, from the ruins of Palmyra to the awe-inspiring crusader castle of Crac des Chevaliers. Of course no visit to Syria would be complete without a stay in both Damascus and Aleppo – the first is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, the second an important juncture on the Silk Road, and still home to the longest covered souks in the region.
