The original founders, Sally and Alice, first met whilst working at a London-based luxury tour operator and immediately bonded over their love of all places wild, dusty and remote. It is therefore not surprising that the idea to start Sally and Alice Travel Co. was born on a motorbike safari on Alice’s family sheep farm in Australia.
Alice claims her Africa obsession began at an early age after reading Karen Blixen’s opening line ‘I had a farm in Africa’. She moved to London from Australia in 2004 and worked in the City for several years in order to support her penchant for exploring the globe, but her real love of travel began when she kissed goodbye to her desk job at Morgan Stanley and headed off on a solo trip from Kampala to Cape Town, stopping en route to work as a safari hostess in South Luangwa National Park in Zambia. Her adventures have since extended far and wide to the Middle East, Indian Ocean and beyond – more recently with her two young children in tow. She has a great knack for finding beautiful places and a penchant for collecting eclectic pieces in souks across North Africa and Arabia.
